I’ve personally been on both sides of the fence of buying and selling property, and I’ve helped hundreds of people get great results. The world of Real Estate can be a confusing one and choosing the right agent is key to your success and sanity. Here are three things you really need to look for.
Great communication.
It can be stressful dealing with an agent who’s not a great communicator. The real estate market is time-sensitive, so you need an agent who constantly keeps you in the loop about your current buying or selling situation. Ensure you select an agent that answers their phone and gets back to you in a timely manner. Don’t go to sleep wondering.
They listen.
Beware of the agent who talks too much and talks about themselves. They are working for you and need to listen attentively to your needs. Let them find the solution to your problems.
They know the local area.
Real estate agents are selling more than a home; they’re selling the lifestyle that accompanies it. Make sure that you ask your prospective agents some curly questions before deciding which one’s right for you. Your agent should be able to provide information about sewer and water lines, school catchments, zoning, flooding and more. That way, you can distinguish between those who can sell the local lifestyle and those who can’t.
