Magic, Witches & Wallpaper – A Drawing Workshop with Zanny Begg.

Learn to create a repeating pattern to make wallpaper or fabric designs.

After Zanny’s artist’s talk, do her workshop to create a wallpaper inspired by late medieval drawings used to illustrate Christine de Pizan’s manuscript The Book of The City of Ladies (1402). Working across time contemporary artist Zanny Begg will bring a feminist lens to drawings of witches, outcasts, healers, monsters and demons—exploring the European witch trials Zanny will invite you to reimagine a world beyond misogyny.Learn to create a repeating pattern to make wallpaper or fabric designs. On completion, Zanny will finalise a collaborative digital wallpaper from your drawings which can be printed onto tea towels, clothing or other items.

Workshop is Suitable for anyone over the age of 15.

Zanny Begg | ‘These Stories Will be Different’ is a UNSW Galleries and Museums & Galleries of NSW touring exhibition. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.

• All program attendees must be in good health prior to attending the session (eg. no runny noses, coughs, temperatures). If any of the attendees booked in feel unwell, please cancel your booking to enable another to use the vacant spot.

• Consider carefully your availability to attend the event BEFORE making your booking. Booking cancellations – especially late cancellations – can mean that we may not be able to fill that place, rendering it a lost opportunity for another community member.

• A reminder notification will be sent 24 hours prior to the program. If you are unable to attend, please cancel through eventbrite, or contact Artspace Mackay ASAP on 4961 9722 to advise so they may remove you from the list manually.

• Photography Permission: Please be aware that all programs may be filmed and posted to Artspace Mackay website and Facebook page to provide access to those unable to attend the session. Filming will focus on the presenter but may include attendees. Do not attend if you do not wish to be filmed.

• By making a booking you agree to all of the above.
