WORKSHOP – Fabulous fabric portraits with Kara Day!

Mixed media artist Kara Day will show you how to make fabulous colourful portraits out of fabric in this enjoyable workshop coinciding with her latest exhibition Ladylike.

Prior to the workshop, participants will send in a photo of the person they’d like to feature in their portrait (it might even be a self-portrait!) We’ll prepare the photo as a print in greyscale to make it easier on the day, and Kara will teach participants to use special drawing, colour, cutting and adhesive techniques to render their portrait in fabulous fabric! Kara’s exhibition Ladylike sees her working across textile, sculpture, and watercolour to interrogate feminine stereotypes, creating bold portraits that prompt consideration of societal typecasts of womanhood and femininity.

• Photography Permission: Please be aware that all programs may be filmed and posted to Artspace Mackay website and Facebook page to provide access to those unable to attend the session. Filming will focus on the presenter but may include attendees. Do not attend if you do not wish to be filmed.
